Garry L. Karsner is Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of the Leadership Corps, a tax exempt not-for- profit organization that partners with organizations in developing countries to improve healthcare management in these countries. Leadership Corps’ goal is to improve management and leadership capacity by linking experienced professionally trained managers with NGOs in developing countries to enhance health services and lead to better health outcomes.
Mr. Karsner retired in March, 2007, as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ocala Regional Medical Center, a two hospital campus located in North Central Florida owned by Nashville, TN, based HCA. He joined HCA in 1995 as a Division Chief Financial Officer and has held progressively responsible positions in healthcare finance and administration in Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Prior to HCA, Karsner served in healthcare finance roles in both the investor owned and not-for-profit healthcare sectors. Additionally, he is retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve with the rank of Captain.
Karsner holds an undergraduate degree from The Florida State University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from University of North Florida. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Florida, a member of the American and Florida Institutes of CPAs and the American College of Healthcare Executives and is active in local civic and professional organizations.
